I’m not usually one to write a review on a game, but when it comes to something like Shipwrecked 64, there’s definitely a lot to be praised. For starters, although the version currently available on Steam is definitely superior (and worth the 8 bucks), the fun you can experience on this FREE version is definitely worth a couple hours of your time. While I’ve already played through the final release on Steam a copious amount of times, seeing the legacy designs of characters and areas feels like a breath of fresh air.  As an avid fan, it's fun pointing out ideas and designs of areas that were expanded upon in the full game, as well as some more minor ideas that were eventually scrapped. While I could go on about the wonderful atmosphere this game builds throughout its relatively short run time, the gameplay leaves a lot to be desired. It’s no use beating a dead horse, but Bucky’s movement is horrendously slow, and definitely kills any tension in later portions of the game (*cough* finding the husks *cough*). If you power through the wonky controls though, the reward for playing through all of its story is amazing, and the emotional depth of the gut-wrenching ending leaves you with an unforgettable experience.

Tl;dr: PLEASE play this game if you haven’t already, Shipwrecked 64 fan or not. Although the game is pretty bare bones, Squeaks’ phenomenal world-building makes up for it, and it serves as an amazing segue into the fully released game.
